Copy Production Clerk

Chicago Transit Authority Chicago, IL (Onsite) Full-Time

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates high speed production copiers and copier production software.
  • Operates finishing equipment such as a right angle folder, cutter, paper drill, and various binding equipment, velo binders, coil binders, spiral binders, padding machines, automatic counters, multi-stationed collators, etc.
  • Loads paper trays, adds toner, changes operating supplies, staples, fuser oils and toners. Receives and logs work orders, programs machine and setup files for production runs.
  • Operates various finishing equipment to assemble documents into finished booklet format.
  • Collates, binds and inspects materials prior to distribution.
  • Adds inserts to jobs, staples, collates, prints, reduces and enlarges copies.
  • Boxes printed documents, preparing information sheets for pick up and/or warehouse delivery. Packages printed materials in needed quantities.
  • Maintains accurate daily records of all finishing request, production request and production impression meters.
  • Cleans and lubricates all equipment used.
  • Occasionally works with confidential/sensitive materials.
  • Performs additional digital pdf manipulation for production runs and provides production proofs.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must pass a physical examination and perform the physical activities associated with this position.
  • Required to be proficient in the operation of all finishing equipment used in the Copy Center/Finishing unit.
  • Previous experience in operating basic copying/duplicating machines/finishing equipment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Required to move and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Remains in an upright position throughout most of the day.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to thoroughly comprehend and interpret copy requests and finishing requests via the job ticket, establish work priorities and maintain logs on all work activities.
  • General knowledge of how to clean, lubricate and adjust equipment in order to keep it in good working condition.
  • Ability to exercise necessary judgement to choose the most appropriate equipment and methods for finishing and copying work.
  • Ability to use discretion necessary for dealing with sensitive and confidential information such as Board Agenda And budget data.
  • Ability to keep suitable temperament to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and other employees.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Subject to noise produced by printing and finishing equipment.
  • Subject to inks, solvents, paper dust, glues, gums chemicals and agents common to the printing trade.
  • Subject to conditions associated with the moving parts common to the print environment.
